Why Do My Bare Feet Get So Dirty From Walking On Concrete Versus Any Other Surface?
They get soooo black afterwards! This never happens when I walk on grass or my wood deck. Even white sidewalks are bad so I think it is something other than tar.

Concrete has small groves that trap fine dirt and dust. The dust is released when your soles sink in between the groves and make contact with it. Concrete close to roadways has oil and rubber particles from cars too. This combined with the dust makes for very black, dirty soles. The oil makes it adhere more to skin.

i know what you mean. it makes no sence at all. perhaps because dirt can collect up in little crevasis. i jsut try to wear flip flops to avoid dirty feet.

To answer your question, the grass tends to clean the feet, wood probably doesn’t have much dirt on it, therefore both are less dirty than the concrete is.
the gravel is more packed with dirt than the grass is
