There may be some variation with local building codes, but generally speaking use 16 inch on center with 2×4s. I might recommend using 2×6 16 inches on center if there’s going to be weight on the roof from snow. Either that or double up every other 2×4 to add rigidity. Rafters should be the same as the ceiling joists.
Just as important is how you tie the new roof into your existing roofline and making sure you have the deck properly attached to your house. Adding that much weight to your existing load bearing wall and roof could cause substantial damage if it’s not done correctly.
I’d recommend getting a permit and building yourself a deck you can enjoy for many years to come, that’s built to code.

you can get a copy of the building code from your local building department without having to apply for a building license.
    Good Luck.

2 x 6 on 16 inch centers is typical. 2×8 or 2×10 on 24 inch centers is sometimes done. If you live in a place that gets snow, 2X4s ain’t going to make it.
    Check your town’s building codes.

Every city or municipality is different. You need to check with your local building department to see what the Building Code is in your area.
