How To Preserve Drift Wood?

I found a little piece of drift wood I would like to hang in my beach themed bathroom. I have washed it good and now have it outside drying. My question is, should I coat with anything or just let dry and hang. Should I soak in bleach to kill any drifters on it or assume there are none. Someone suggested a clear coat used on decks and such. Any suggestions?

I just painted mine w/ woodstain. You could bleach it to make it look authentic-it is already I know, but it you do nothing to it-you’ll be inviting insects into your house. Treat it w/ something so the insects will die of suffocation. There’s no oxygen after sealers go on so it will be safe and I bet beautiful. Mine is pretty good looking!
