How Do You Get Hot Glue Off Of Wood?

I put some lights on my deck for christmas with a hot glue gun. One problem I can get the glue off.

    try goo gone, (available at local hardware store) but its flammable so be-careful you’re not smoking when you use it

    The glue has to be heated to melting temperture before it will separate. A heat gun will accomplish this but will probably damage the electrical cord and char the surface.
    Try scraping with a putty knife. Some repairs will have to be made regardless of the method.

    okay, at first glance I thaught “someone needs to flag this guy” because thats sick!
    but then I realized when I clicked on the topic anyway, out of utter sickness on my part to read the real problem.
    Scrape with putty knife and repaint. Thats all you can do.

    How did you glue lights on without melting the cord?
    Use a metal putty knife or a razor to scrape off the glue.
