How Do I Block Wax From Bleeding Through Paint On My Wood Deck?

My deck had a citronella candle that melted on it. I did everything. My deck is very hot so I sanded it. Put towels on it. Sanded it. Towels again. Still would bleed through. Is there any product on the market that will block the wax from coming through before I paint it. I am painting it with an opaque latex stain but first I am thinking about trying an oil based zinnser product on the small part where the wax bleeds through. Any thoughts. Help.

Mineral spirits (paint thinner) and naptha (lighter fluid) will dissolve wax, I believe. You should have a good idea if it works if water beads up (or not) on the surface after treating it.
I had some squirrels chew a deck tread (a bird feeder was right above it). It was quite easy to just replace the tread. You might just do that, especially since you’re covering it w/ a stain (it will match well).

you have to get the wax out of the wood, or it will continue to bleed as it melts in the heat. try this: put a paper towel over the wax and use a household iron to melt the wax into the towel until it is dry.
